My day job has an official title of Office Manager. We have a family-owned business for our electrical contracting and solar installation company (All Electric) located in the Central Valley of Northern California. We live in the middle of orchard country and are surrounded by peach, plum, and walnut orchards and have a classic view of the world’s smallest mountain chain, the Sutter Buttes.
Our electrical business, aptly named All Electric, was formed in 1993 and expanded into the designing and installing of solar energy systems in 1999. When we are not installing systems or re-wiring houses, you can find us picking apricots and cherries, or walnuts and pecans from our 2 acres ‘hobby orchard’.
Or keeping the cats fed, along with the hummingbirds and goldfinches.
Or weeding the garden.
Or writing about cats. I began writing a children’s book one year ago, having no idea what I was getting myself into. It’s been a labor of love and I hope to eventually get published.
Now I am blogging about cats and find myself surrounded by fur. Besides my two adorable orange tabbies, we have a new barn cat and visits from our neighbor’s cats.
Not only are cats adored (mostly by me) around here, but they serve a very practical purpose. Marco and Polo, the orange tabbies help keep the rodents at bay. Otherwise they help us out in the office.
This blog and my companion website, Global Cats, have become a bit more than a hobby. You can see more of Marco and Polo’s pictures on My Mewses pages or the slideshow on my Global Cats website.

I LOVE your new blog, Rahma! It’s already in my blogroll.

Thanks Claudia. That is encouraging. I’m having fun with it which is, of course, the idea. Thanks for putting me on your Blogroll. Yours will be added to mine, too.
Thanks for looking at my site, gardeningwithcats. I just started and haven’t figured it all out, but I’ll put you on my Blogroll when I get it figured out. I was tickled finally figuring out how to get photos on!
Thanks again.
Gardening with cats: Good luck with your website. What a concept, doing a blog on both gardening and cats. However, both Marco and Polo love to accompany me out in the garden. This morning I was picking purple plums and Marco was right up there in the tree…..helping!
